Community college baseball: Pirates win two

SAN DIEGO - The Orange Coast College baseball teams picked up wins
over San Diego Mesa, 17-5, and host Southwestern, 10-6, at the Apache
Classic Sunday.
Against Mesa, starter Scott Beerer (2-0) struck out 11 and walked one in seven innings to lead the Pirates on the mound. He also pitched in
with a home run.
Jeremy Lahmann (four RBIs) and Ryan Marcos also homered for the
Pirates (7-1).
OCC put the game away with eight runs in the ninth inning.
Against Southwestern, the Pirates took a 3-1 lead, but pulled away for
good with seven runs in the sixth.
