College baseball: UCI wins fifth in a row

ANTEATER BALLPARK - Add a winning streak to the list of firsts for
the UC Irvine baseball team, which scored a 5-2 nonconference victory
over visiting St. Mary’s College Saturday.
The Anteaters (6-4) scored one run in the fourth inning, four runs in
the eighth and held on for their fifth straight win. St. Mary’s dropped
to 0-5.
UCI pitcher Sean Tracey carried a shutout into the ninth inning,
striking out 10. Anteater reliever Michael Koehler came in with the bases
loaded and went on to preserve the win and recorded his fourth save of
the season.
UCI and St. Mary’s will close out the series today at 1 p.m.
