Community college baseball: Pirates hammer East L.A., 21-4
EL CAJON - The Orange Coast College baseball team were tied, 1-1,
with East Los Angeles after three innings, but OCC outscored the Huskies,
20-3, the rest of the way for a 21-4 win in the Apache Classic at
Southwestern College Saturday.
The game was called after eight innings because of time limit
restrictions, but the Pirates (5-1) completed enough damage in the fourth
inning with nine runs.
OCC sophomore Scott Beerer went 3 for 4 with a walk, a sacrifice fly
and three RBIs, while sophomore Jeremy Lahmann belted a two-run home run
in the fourth inning and another two-run shot in the sixth.
Pirates sophomore righthander Matt Clanton recorded eight strikeouts
in six innings of work.
OCC wraps up Apache Classic action today with a doubleheader, facing
San Diego Mesa at 10 a.m. and Southwestern at 2 p.m.
