Community college baseball: Pirates open tourney with win
EL CAJON - The Orange Coast College baseball team scored its fourth
win out of five games after a 4-0 victory over Grossmont Friday to open
the Apache Classic played at colleges in the San Diego area.
OCC sophomore Jeremy Lahman smacked a two-run home run in the eighth
inning that brought in sophomore Scott Beerer, who singled.
Freshman first baseman Kyle Stanley and sophomore catcher Ryan Hanson
both went 2 for 4 for the Pirates (4-1). Grossmont dropped to 2-4.
Sophomore Justin Azze recorded his second win of the young season,
pitching eight scoreless innings.
The Pirates return to Apache Classic action today at 10 a.m., facing
East Los Angeles at Southwestern College.
