The Costa Mesa High girls basketball team claims the season series,

but Estancia wins the Lady Bell trophy with a 45-34 triumph. The host

Eagles score the game’s first six points and never trail. Jill Black

leads Estancia with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Kalena Jackson

paces the visitors with 10 points off the bench.

The Newport Harbor girls water polo team delivers a 12-4 victory over

Back Bay rival Corona del Mar in the Sailors’ pool. Jocelyn Manderino

leads the Sailors with four goals, Lisa Swain puts in two goals, while

Barbara Cohen, Autumn Milliken and Erin Murphy all add single goals.

Alden Moore scores three goals for the Sailors, who use a strong defense

anchored by Erin Kennedy (10 saves).

The Newport Harbor girls basketball team emphatically grabs possession

of bragging rights with an 80-38 victory over Back Bay rival CdM. Five

Sailors score in double figures, including M.E. Clayton (20 points),

Desiree Talley (19), Breanna Badorek (16), Colleen Eadie (14) and Katie

Dunne (10). Clayton adds a game-high 12 rebounds and Badorek grabs 10

boards.

The Newport Harbor boys basketball team makes the most of its fourth

quarter in a 49-33 win over Back Bay rival CdM. The Sailors outscore the

Sea Kings, 23-6, in the final period. Danny Pulido (11 points) and Matt

Jameson (10) lead the way for Newport.

The Corona del Mar High boys basketball team pulls off a stunning

47-44 victory over host Woodbridge. CdM enters the game in last place in

the Sea View League, while the Warriors enter in a tie for first. Theo

Rokos scores 14 points to lead the Sea Kings and Doug Hesse adds 11

points.

The Costa Mesa girls basketball team dominates in an 82-19 victory

over visiting Laguna Beach. Olivia DiCamilli leads the way with 23

points. The Mustangs start with a 14-0 run and never look back. Yool Kim

records four steals to go with her eight points.

The Newport Harbor boys soccer team looks to Jim Hicks to grab a 2-1

victory over visiting Woodbridge. Hicks scores on a penalty kick with 15

minutes left. The Sailors, who trail at halftime, 1-0, get a goal from

Bryce Rose. Goalkeeper Mike Freeman comes up with five saves.

The Estancia girls basketball team rings up a convincing 42-39 victory

over visiting Laguna Hills. The win avenges a 42-39 loss to Laguna Hills

in the first round of league play. Jennifer Brazell enjoys one of her

most productive games of the season, scoring 11 points, dishing out eight

assists and grabbing seven rebounds. Monique Sweet leads the Eagle with

13 points, while Leah Braatz collects 12 rebounds.
