Used book sale at Central Library

The Friends of the Newport Beach Library will hold a used book sale
Feb. 9 in the Newport Beach Central Library’s Friends Meeting Room, 1000
Avocado Ave.
A preview for members only will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 8.
Hardcover books will sell for two for $1, and paperbacks will be
available for six for $1.
The sale will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 9.
Proceeds will benefit the library system.

Senior showcase calls for entries
The Costa Mesa Senior Center invites seniors 50 and older who live in
Orange County to enter the Orange County Artists Showcase 2002, to be
exhibited at the Costa Mesa Senior Center in March.
Presented along with Orange Coast College, the mixed-media exhibit of
works themed “A Tribute to Freedom” will be on display March 8 through
March 10 at 695 W. 19th St., Costa Mesa. A juried competition will
determine the 200 or so artists.
All entered works should have been created by the artist after he or
she reached the age of 50.
To enter, send in your registration to the senior center, 695 W. 19th
St., Costa Mesa, CA 92627-2715, by Feb. 21 or register from 8 a.m. to
noon Feb. 25 at the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park
Ave., Costa Mesa.
Prizes will include a best of show award of $1,000 and a People’s
Choice award of $200.
