Sailors romp, 8-0

NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor High’s Sailors were 8-0 winners in

girls soccer Thursday afternoon as visiting Laguna Hills proved to be no

match for the Sea View League powers, who improved to 11-6-3, 4-1-2 in league as they gird for the CIF Playoffs.

The Sailors outshot the Hawks, 15-0, forcing goaltenders Kara DeMille

and Jonna Fredriksen to each walk away without a save.

Lauren Birchfield capped it with a shot off an assist from Jillian

Austin.

Tory Manchester and Austin each scored twice and single goals were

added by Amy Ross, Kate Younglove and Kristen Nahin.

Ross (two), Tricia Orth, Nahin, Austin and Manchester earned assists

in the victory.

The Sailors have one Sea View game remaining on Tuesday at Woodbridge.
