Girls soccer: Mustangs blow by Eagles

COSTA MESA - Costa Mesa High’s Ronquillo sisters, Rachel and Sarah,
combined for five goals and junior Sharon Day scored twice to lead the
Mustangs’ girls soccer team to a 9-0 win over Pacific Coast League
visitor Estancia Thursday.
Rachel, a freshman, delivered a hat trick, while the senior Sarah,
punched in two goals, as the Mustangs (11-5-3, 4-2-2 in the PCL) scored
the nine goals on breakaway opportunities in the first 30 minutes.
Costa Mesa freshman Jenny Sparks and sophomore Stacy Krikorian scored
one goal each. Day posted two assists and seniors Lisa Dunn, Nichelle
Janti and Natalee Schoetler and freshman Nilani Duarte contributed one
assist each.
Estancia sophomore goalkeeper Arwyn Knott recorded six saves for the
Eagles (3-17, 0-8). Mustangs goalkeepers sophomore Kaitlyn Gentling and
senior Chelsea Soria stopped one shot each.
Costa Mesa will host PCL co-leader CdM Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.
