Men’s basketball: UCI travels to Idaho

After earning one of its biggest wins of the season, the UC Irvine

men’s basketball team continues a two-game road trip to face Idaho

tonight at 7:05 p.m. in a Big West Conference match-up.

The Anteaters (11-4, 4-0) remained the only undefeated team in

conference after wiping out Utah State, 67-66, Thursday night in Logan,

Utah to snap the Aggies’ 31-game winning streak at home.

Green scored 31 points to lead the charge and takes a team-high 23.1

points per game average into the contest with Idaho (4-10, 1-4).

“We don’t want to forget the great win over Utah State,” Douglass

said, “but we have to refocus for Idaho as every conference game is

important.”

The Vandals sit near the bottom of the standings, ahead of only Cal

State Fullerton (3-10, 0-4).

Idaho is coming off its first conference victory, 69-67, over visiting

Long Beach State Thursday.

“We have an advantage size-wise over Idaho, whose tallest player is

6-6, but Idaho has good overall athletic ability and they are very

active,” Douglass said. “They play almost exclusively zone defense so

we’ll have to bury our outside shots.”

UCI has a balanced starting line up featuring sophomore center Adam

Parada (11.7 ppg, 6.5 rebounds per game), junior forward Jordan Harris

(11.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg), sophomore forward Stanislav Zuzak (9.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg)

and junior guard Mike Hood (7.9 ppg).

The Vandals will counter with Rodney Hilaire (9.4 ppg), Justin Logan

(8.8 ppg), Bethuel Fletcher (8.6 ppg) and Moe Jenkins (10.6 ppg).
