Officer Luis Ochoa retires with honor
A standing ovation greeted Huntington Beach Lt. Luis Ochoa when he was
recognized with a Medal of Distinguished Service for his dedication to
the department for the past 37 years.
His last day of service will be Sunday. He has not taken a sick day in
the past 33 years.
“Sometimes I would wake up not feeling good but my wife would say,
‘You should go to work, it will make you feel better’,” Ochoa said
smiling with wife Sharon at his side as Mayor Debbie Cook and Huntington
Beach Police Chief Ron Lowenberg presented the award at Monday night’s
City Council meeting.
“I’m still treated very well and am so proud of the officers and how
they do their job every day,” Ochoa said. “It’s been a privilege to serve
Huntington Beach.”
