Community college women: OCC women start out with bang
COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College women’s basketball team
opened Orange Empire Conference play with a 66-42 victory over visiting
Golden West Wednesday.
Freshman point guard Nancy Hatsushi led the Pirates (14-4, 1-0 in the OEC) with 12 points and eight steals. Freshmen Charlenda Van Buren (eight
points) and Liz Mendoza (seven) also contributed for OCC, the 13th-ranked
team in the state and ranked No. 5 in the south.
The Pirates, the highest ranked OEC team in the state, will play at
Irvine Valley Friday at 7:30 p.m.
