GARDEN GROVE - Corona del Mar High sophomore forward Madison
Otterbein scored a game-high 16 points and added a team-leading six
rebounds as CdM’s girls basketball team defeated Rancho Alamitos, 67-25,
to capture seventh place Saturday in the Cavalier Classic at Santiago
High.
The Sea Kings (5-10), also led by senior point guard Andrea Gruber
(eight assists), outscored the Vaqueros in the first quarter, 15-9, then
built a 37-13 halftime lead.
“We finally got the ball down low and it shows with Madison,” CdM
Coach Elbert Davis said. “Hopefully that’s a sign of things to come ...
it was a great team effort.”
CdM, also led by junior Kelliann Klein’s 14 points, opens Pacific
Coast League action Tuesday at home against Laguna Beach at 7 p.m.
