WEATHER FORECAST
In the words of Sting, expect “heavy clouds, but no rain.” Gray skies
with little sun are forecast for Newport-Mesa, with temperatures reaching
a high of 65 about 3 p.m. The low of the day, 50, will happen in the
early morning hours. There’s a 20% chance of rain, which means you can
probably keep your umbrella at home.

BOATING FORECAST
Close to shore, a heavy surf advisory may be issued today, so be on
alert. The light winds are expected to be out of the southwest at 10 to
15 knots, with wind waves of 2 feet. A northwest swell of 9 feet is
expected.
Farther out, there are reports of a slight chance of showers. Winds are
expected to blow south to southwest at 10 to 20 knots, kicking up wind
waves of 2 feet. Forecasters predict a northwest swell of 13 to 15 feet.
SURF
Look for 2 to 3 feet of knee- to waist-high waves, with good longboard
peaks near the pier. According to forecasters, there are more waves on
the way and should be here by today and into next week. Water is still
pretty chilly though, so keep those wetsuits and booties on.
