Girls basketball: Eagles roll
COSTA MESA - Estancia High junior Xochitl Byfield scored 16 of her
game-high 20 points in the first half to help the host Eagles secure a
53-34 nonleague victory over Notre Dame Academy Thursday night.
Sophomore point guard Trisha Wase drilled both of her three-pointers
in the first period to help the Eagles build a 21-9 lead after eight
minutes. She finished with 16 points.
It was the fourth game in four days for Estancia (4-5), which
continues its busy week today at 4 p.m., battling West Torrance for the
championship of its pool in the Jim Hill Memorial Tournament at Mission
Viejo High.
