Costa Mesa High’s girls basketball teams continues to struggle in
the early stages of the season, dropping a 34-30 decision to Gahr in the
consolation bracket of the Artesia Tournament at Hawaiian Gardens Center.
The loss drops Mesa to 2-7 and puts them in a final consolation game
on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Millikan High in Long Beach.
Thursday’s loss was one many in the Mustangs’ program won’t forget
soon.
Mesa’s accuracy from the field in the first half sunk to 4% (1 for 25)
as Gahr established a 20-8 lead.
Mesa warmed up a little in the second half and finished 8 for 49
(16.3%).
Rhondi Naff was the only Mustang to score more than two points. She
netted 22 points, six rebounds and two assists.
