A last ditch attempt to keep South County’s Great Park initiative off
the March 5 ballot has been quashed.
The California Supreme Court on Wednesday denied an appeal of a ruling
placing Measure W, the park initiative, before voters.
Earlier this month, Bruce Nestande and Citizens for Jobs and the
Economy appealed a decision by a three-judge appellate panel in San Diego
that dismissed a lower courts’ ruling against the initiative.
The ballot title and summary of Measure W, also known as the Orange
County Central Park and Nature Preserve Initiative, had been invalidated
as misleading.
The court’s refusal to hear Nestande’s appeal basically ends attempts
by airport supporters to stop the Great Park initiative.
