A Newport Beach architectural firm has designed one of the first new
buildings under construction at the Los Angeles Air Force Base.
Robbins Jorgensen Christopher designed the 34,000-square-foot,
$5.1-million fitness center that will feature two enclosed racquetball
courts, a weight room featuring free weights and machines, an exercise
room, aerobics studio, gymnasium with retractable bleachers, health
education center with classrooms, demonstration kitchen, relaxation
rooms, exam rooms and offices.
The men’s and women’s locker rooms include saunas and access outside
where an outdoor sports facility is planned.
The firm’s Newport Beach offices are at 2800 Lafayette Ave. It also
has offices in San Diego and Palm Springs.
