Comets collect pair of victories
The East Huntington Beach Comets went on a 7-0 tear in the final 1:50
of Sunday’s game against Irvine and pulled away for a 42-33 victory in
National Junior Basketball girls’ eighth-grade White Conference game.
Kay-Dee Lane made six of eight free throw attempts and Kayla Morgan
added another free throw down the stretch to complete the Comets’ 7-0
run. Lane finished with a game-high 18 points and Megan Choate added 10
points.
The Comets also posted a 37-21 victory over host Tustin at Tustin High
as Lane had 12 points, Morgan had 11 points and Denise Willan grabbed 20
rebounds and had five assists.

South Huntington Beach ran out to a 20-2 first quarter lead and never
looked back.
Wahine Kepilino led the Chargers with 18 points, Elyse VanLeer posted
16 points and Wendy Blyth scored 12.
