Garland returns to familiar post

The Huntington Beach City School District Board of Trustees held its
annual organizational meeting Tuesday and elected Brian Garland president
and Shirley Carey as clerk for 2002.
Both were elected on 5-0 votes.
Garland, now in his 25th year as a board member, has served as
president on five previous occasions
“I think the upcoming year will be very challenging, especially with
the bond election coming up in March,” he said. “I’m proud to be a part
of such an excellent school district.”
Garland held the position of clerk during the 2000-01 year.
Officers hold office from December to December.
Other board members include Robert Mann, Catherine McGough and Brian
Rechsteiner, who served as president this past year.
Ogdon, Pellman new officers at Ocean View School District
By a 5-0 vote Tuesday, Pam Ogdon was named the new president of the
Ocean View School District Board of Trustees. She takes over the reigns
from last year’s board president, Carol Kanode.
Ogdon held the role of clerk last year, a position now occupied by
Tracy Pellman, who was voted the new clerk by a 3-2 count.
Other board members include Kanode, Barbara Boskovich and Pam Walker.
Castrey new Huntington Beach Union High School District president
Bonnie Castrey was elected Tuesday as the new president of the
Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees.
Castrey previously held the position of vice president, now held by
Susan Henry.
The role of clerk will be held by Matthew Harper, with Sallie Dashiell
voted as alternate clerk.
Board member Michael Simons held the role of president this past year.
