Girls water polo: CdM warm up for Wilson

CORONA DEL MAR - Junior standout Christina Hewko scored five goals,
Danielle Carlson added three and Brittany Bowlus two as Corona del Mar
High’s girls water polo team defeated Arlington of Riverside, 12-3,
Wednesday in nonleague action.
CdM (3-0), ranked sixth by The Times in the Southern California
region, plays No. 7 Long Beach Wilson in a nonleague game Friday at 6:15
p.m. at Belmont Plaza.
Coach Aaron Chaney’s Sea Kings jumped ahead, 2-0, in the first quarter
when Bowlus scored with 4:18 left and Hewko scored with 2:14 to play.
They led at halftime, 5-1, then outscored Arlington, 4-0, in the third
quarter. Arlington is ranked ninth by The Times.
Alexa Miller and Daniela DiGiacomo scored goals for CdM, while goalie
Jessica Wells had seven saves.
