CdM defeats Montclair

Corona del Mar High junior Kevin Mancillas scored 23 points,

including a season-high six three-pointers, to lead the Sea Kings to a

71-56 victory over Montclair in the first round of the Sonora/Troy

Tournament Monday.

Brett Matsen chipped in 22 points, with four three-pointers, and six

rebounds while Pancho Seaborn added 16 points. Eric Glass contributed

with five rebounds and Jay Northridge had five rebounds and five assists

for the Sea Kings (3-3).

Montclair falls to 2-4.

Corona del Mar takes on the El Modena-Sonora winner in the second

round tonight at 7:30 at Sonora High.

Coach Mike Murphy, a former CdM basketball player, guides the Sonora

squad.
