Girls cross country: Allen 11th at nationals

Corona del Mar High senior Julie Allen placed 11th at the
Footlocker Cross Country National Championship to help the West team win
the competition with 33 points Saturday in Orlando, Fla.
Allen, the CIF Southern Section Division III and Pacific Coast League
individual champion this fall, ran the 5K course in 17:50.51 and was the
second-best runner from California.
“She is the best Orange County runner we’ve seen in over 10 years and
the best I can remember in the history of Corona del Mar High,” CdM Coach
Bill Sumner said of the four-time state finalist.
Amber Trotter of Redwood Valley, Ca. won the race in 16:24.07.
The Northwest team finished second with 61 points, followed by the
Midwest team (71 points) and the South (73 points).
