Meeting a homeless family is always humbling. Seeing the Blake family

made me realize that anyone can be homeless. If there is a stereotype,

they don’t fit it.

At first glance the Blakes look like the perfect American family. Then

you hear their story and you just want to help them. In the short time I

spent with the Blakes -- father Anthony Blake, mother Kelly Conway and

sons Hunter and Devon Blake -- I became attached. But as a journalist I

had to separate myself from the story.

Even though I’m supposed to maintain an objective point of view, I

just wanted to help. I went home feeling guilty for not doing anything.

Hopefully, through my pictures, people will be as touched as I was.
