Girls basketball: Newport places 16th

Newport Harbor High suffered a 59-37 loss to Torrance in the

15th-place game of the University girls basketball tournament Saturday.

Torrance went on a 16-7 run to start the game and never looked back.

Leading the way for Newport Harbor (0-5) were Lindsey Woller (nine

points, eight rebounds) and Jillianne Whitfield (eight points, six

rebounds).
