COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, as
well as newly hired Newport Harbor High Coach Joel Desguin, in
association with the Newport Harbor Baseball Association, will host
separate winter baseball camps for youngsters, Dec. 24 and Dec. 26-28, at
the OCC diamond.
Altobelli, a two-time Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year, will
offer instruction for players ages 5-11 on basic skills such as throwing,
catching, base running and hitting strategies in a kid-friendly
environment.
Contests, competitions and trivia games will be included, as well as
special guest appearances by Major League players.
Desguin, with more than two decades of coaching experience on the high
school and college levels, will provide instruction on fundamentals and
game strategies to experienced players ages 11-14. Desguin’s sessions
will feature instruction by Newport Harbor High coaches and players and
will also include daily contests, with awards given to winners.
Snacks will be provided, but players are asked to bring ample water.
Both camps are scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon. Preregistration cost for a
regular camper (including a cap and T-shirt) is $100 for NHBA members and
$115 for nonmembers.
Fees the day of the camp are $125 for NHBA members and $140 for
nonmembers. For two or more players from the same family, NHBA members
will pay $90 each, while nonmembers will be charged $120 each.
