AYSO Region 97: Lightning strike in overtime

Ivan Becerra scored in overtime to lift the Lightning, 2-1, over

the Xterminators in an AYSO Region 97 boys under-10 soccer game.

Colton Gyuylay scored in regulation for the Lightning. Steven Miller

and Sergio Garcia were strong on offense. Wil Curiel, Matthew

DiFrancesca, Drew Diller and Brecht Vanthof dominated the midfield.

Patrick Briand, Miles Flanders and Marcos Urquiza contributed with solid

defense.

Goalkeeper John Ryder demonstrated composure in goal.

In boys under-10 action:

* Raptors 7, Panthers 1 - John Barton scored three goals and Jay Ordaz

and Scotty Pantoskey each scored twice to lead the Raptors. Midfielders

Josh Duehring, Ian Sequeira and Cody Caldwell moved the ball well. The

defense was anchored by Christian Taggart. Aaron Varasteh and Cole Atlas

had solid performances. Devin Hovis, Brenton Reasin and Gavin Arblaster

also played well. Goalkeeper Jesse Hickey was strong in the net.

In boys under-12 APP action:

* Newport Beach 7, North Irvine 1 - Garrett Heiser scored three goals

for the winners, and Taylor Friend, Brian Siemonsma, Adrian Bounanoce and

Jamie Galey. Also competing with strong contributions were Will

Reichenstein, Robbie Joslin, Otoniel Garcia, Matt Josyln and Robby

Jhunjhnuwala. Denny Perdomo was sidelined by injury.
