Boys basketball: Sage Hill drops opener

NEWPORT COAST - Sage Hill High opened its first varsity boys
basketball season with a 44-39 loss to visiting Garden Grove Wednesday.
The Lightning trailed by 13 early in the fourth quarter, but rallied
to pull within three with possession and about a minute left.
A turnover, however, allowed the Argonauts to prevail.
Junior center Michael Fitzhugh paced the hosts with 14 points,
including seven in the final period, and also added 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Kevin Joyce chipped in seven points and five boards and Erik
Williams had eight points for Sage Hill, which returns to action Monday
in the Tarbut V’Torah Tournament.
