Two UCI students have been honored for their outstanding achievement
and dedication to the study of science.
Doctoral students Lauren Billings and Karen Matsukuma will each
receive $25,000 scholarships after receiving the Achievement Rewards for
College Scientists Foundation Fellowship Award, the university announced
Wednesday.
Billings, a fourth-year doctorate student in the Department of
Neurobiology and Behavior, studies neurological processes related to
Parkinson’s disease.
Matsukuma, a student in the Medical Scientist Training Program, is
enrolled in joint master’s and doctorate programs. She is in her second
year of medical school and conducts research in the Department of
Molecular Biology and Biochemistry.
