A Costa Mesa woman was killed Friday after swerving into oncoming
traffic on a Tustin street.
Maria Engstrom, 31, died shortly after the 8:45 a.m. accident on
Jamboree Road, just north of Warner Avenue.
Engstrom was driving a yellow Ford Escape and heading northbound on
Jamboree when she crossed into oncoming traffic and was broadsided by a
Mercedes Benz, Tustin Police Sgt. Mark Hein said.
Engstrom, who was single and had no children, was apparently heading
to Apria Healthcare, where she worked, Hein said.
Her parents, who live in La Puente, were notified on Friday. An
autopsy to determine the exact cause of death was scheduled for today.
Letitia Sapp, also 31, was driving the Mercedes. Sapp, who lives in
Riverside, was taken to Western Medical Center for treatment of minor
injuries and released, Hein said.
