A trio of Newport Harbor High standouts who led the Sailors to a
share of their eighth Sea View League girls volleyball title in nine
seasons have been named first-team all-league by the circuit’s coaches.
Liz Lord, a 5-foot-11 senior middle blocker bound for Portland, is a
repeat first-team selection. She is joined on the first team by teammates
Katie King, a 5-6 senior setter, and Kristin McClune, a 6-1 junior middle
blocker.
Senior Christine Woller, a 6-1 outside hitter bound for UC Irvine, and
5-7 sophomore Alyson Jennings represent the Sailors on the second team.
Newport, which tied Irvine for the league crown, went on to finish
22-11, earning CIF Southern Section Division II-AA runner-up honors and
advancing to the semifinals of the Division II Southern California
regionals.
Irvine senior Olivia Waldowski is the league MVP.
