Women’s volleyball: Myer, Lavold honored
Brown senior setter Corre Myer, a Corona del Mar High product, has
been named Ivy League Volleyball Player of the Year after leading the
Bears to a share of the Ivy League championship.
Myer was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection, as was Columbia
junior Kathy Lavold, a former Newport Harbor High standout.
Myer missed most of last season due to an injury, but rebounded this
year and played in all 14 league matches, averaging an Ivy-best 13.33
assists per game. She also had 60 or more assists five times.
Lavold, an outside hitter, led the league in kills with 4.96 per game
and was second with a .347 hitting percentage. She led the Lions to an
8-6 record this season.
