College men’s basketball: Lions rule over Cal Baptist, 66-60

RIVERSIDE - Josh Pierson and Damion Morbley scored 23 points each
to lead the Vanguard men’s basketball team to a 66-60 Golden State
Athletic Conference victory at Cal Baptist Tuesday.
In a game that featured 12 ties and seven lead changes, Morbley also
grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and Ian Boys contributed with 10 rebounds
in the GSAC opener for both teams.
The Lions (2-2, 1-0 in the GSAC) trailed, 28-26, at the half, but
outscored Cal Baptist (1-2, 0-1) in the second half, 40-32, thanks to a
10-2 run in the closing moments. Pierson nailed four three-pointers,
while Morbley went 9 for 12 from the free-throw line.
