The first phase of a sewer lining project in Huntington Harbour will
be finished by the end of this month.
More than 52,000 feet of sewer pipes will be lined on four of the
islands by the end of November with an additional 52,000 feet slated for
repair next year.
These repairs are designed to prevent both leaking and the inflow of
salt water into sewer lines, lift stations and treatment facilities, city
officials said.
Sewer manholes were also lined with a corrosion-resistant coating that
protects against saline soils.
The $1.8 million for the project was funded by grants from both the
Orange County Sanitation District and the Environmental Protection
Agency.
