Two Huntington Beach women were killed last weekend in separate
traffic accidents on area freeways.
Krista George, 51, died at 12:44 p.m. Friday at Los Alamitos Medical
Center after the car she was driving swerved and hit another car before
they both hit the center divider on the northbound side of the San
Gabriel River Freeway at Wardlow Road in Long Beach, said California
Highway Patrol officer A. Calise.Susan Devoe, 52, was killed Saturday
just before 10 a.m. on the San Diego Freeway. She was riding her
motorcycle north, just south of Lake Forest Drive.
“For unknown reasons [Devoe] started to change lanes toward the center
divider, slowing down to approximately 15 mph,” said California Highway
Patrol Officer Tony Camilleri. “As she was changing lanes, she got into
the path of a 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was traveling in the number 1
lane. The driver of the Mitsubishi tried to stop but was unable to stop
in time and rear ended the motorcycle.”
Devoe was ejected from her motorcycle and struck the Mitsubishi’s
windshield. She was pronounced dead at the scene, said Camilleri.
The accident is still under investigation.
