Women’s soccer: UCI’s season comes to a close
The UC Irvine women’s soccer team ended the season with a 2-1 loss
to the University of San Diego in a nonconference game Friday.
Hayley McNallan scored 10 minutes into the game on a breakaway with an
assist from Natalie Franklin to give the Anteaters a 1-0 lead, but the
Toreros answered with goals by Katie Allen (27:07) and Ashley Jacobsen
(38:55).
Goalkeeper Sarah Swancutt played the first half, recording two saves,
while Chelsea McCarthy played the second half and made three saves.
The Toreros (13-6 overall) outshot UCI, 16-4. The Anteaters finished
the season 7-9-1, 4-4-1in the Big West Conference. McNallan led the team
in scoring this season with 18 points on ninegoals.
