o7 In the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the East
Coast, organizations and city-funded departments in Newport-Mesa are
raising funding. This list, which will run occasionally, includes some of
those.f7
* Proceeds from a concert from 6 to 10 p.m. today at Vanguard
University will benefit victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The
students will take the funds to New York City in December. The concert
will be in the Newport-Mesa Christian Center on the campus.
* On Sunday, John L. Blom Custom Photography will take color pictures
of children on an antique firetruck that the Newport Beach Fire
Department will provide. The 5-by-7-inch print will cost $10, which will
be sent to the department to donate to the New York Fire Department Sept.
11 Disaster Relief Fund. Each extra child will require a $1 donation.
“God Bless America” T-shirts will also be available for $10, and the
proceeds also will be donated. All of this will occur from 10 a.m. to 4

* Anyone interested in sending money to victims of the attacks in New
York may contribute to a box placed by Costa Mesa city employees --
police, fire and the Pavilion Assn. -- on the front desk of the city’s
Police Department. You may also mail your contributions to the city of
