WHAT HAPPENED:
The board unanimously approved an agreement with the firm of Douglas
E. Barnhart, Inc. to provide construction management services for the
gymnasium/auditorium projects that are to take place at four middle
schools: Marine View, Mesa View, Spring View and Vista View.
WHAT IT MEANS:
Following a screening process and interviews, the board selected
Barnhart. Fees for the project are subject to negotiation but are
estimated at $720,000 for all construction management services. There is
no set date as of yet for the start of construction, said the district’s
Sonya Price.
In other board news, the district presented Robert Sanden, head
custodian at Circle View Elementary School, with a Wave Maker Award.
Sanden began his career with the district in 1988 as a custodial helper
and head custodian substitute and was promoted to head custodian at
Circle View in 1993. Sanden was honored for being an excellent role model
for the students, staff and administration at Circle View. His commitment
and outstanding service to the job also was noted by Circle View
Principal Bonnie Cadra-Lytle, who presented Sanden with his award. The
Wave Maker Award is presented to a district employee who has achieved
merit through several years of service.
