A Huntington Beach man was killed Monday after he was hit by a 1989
Mercedes Benz station wagon.
Elazar Babazaden, 85, died on the way to Orange Coast Medical Center
in Fountain Valley, said Huntington Beach Police Sgt. Michael Mello.
Babazaden was walking south on Brookhurst Street just north of
Indianapolis Avenue just before 6 p.m. Monday when he was struck.
“For unknown reasons he stepped into oncoming traffic in the No. 3
lane and was struck in the center of the traffic lane,” Mello said.
Susan Alford, 50, was driving northbound on Brookhurst Street in her
station wagon when she struck Babazaden. No charges were filed against
her.
The investigation is continuing, but no alcohol was found at the
scene, said Sgt. Janet Perez of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
