Ayso Region 57: Rip Girls cruise to victory

The Rip Girls earned their fifth victory of the season with a 4-2
triumph over the Pesto Girls in an AYSO Region 57 girls under-10 soccer
game Saturday.
Caroline Hardenberg (two goals), Alexa Ossipoff and Kelsey Davis
scored to lead the Rip Girls. Kellie Langwell also contributed on
offense. Maggie McElroy dominated the midfield while the defense was
anchored by Karoline Wang, Erin Almaraz and Abby Jones. Goalkeepers Leyla
Hezar and Katie Draffin split time in the net.
In boys under-10 action:
* Mako Sharks 3, Storm 0 - Chris Freeman scored two goals and Ryan
Peyton scored one to lead the undefeated Sharks to their eighth straight
victory. Braydon Blackford chipped in with an assist. Midfielders
Sebastien Welch and Cameron Kopple shut down the Storms’ offense. David
Fenner, Chandler Mitchell and Saahm Aresh protected the Sharks’ net.
* Flying Tigers 3, Lightning 2 - Will Morrow scored two goals and
Mason Case had one to help the Tigers come from behind for the win.
Austin Jones, Zach Socoloski, Nick Mathews and Christian Anderson
contributed on offense. The defense was led by Trevor Friedman, Zach
Haber, Ian Klug and goalkeeper Zach Cabin. Preston Presser and Sam Parks
scored for the Lightning.
In girls under-10 action:
* Shore Breakers 4, Funky Monkeys 0 - Sarah Carvelli and Marta Tena
each scored two goals. Ashleigh Smith had assists. Kelly Cooper, Victoria
Burkhead, Savannah Perkins and Erica Phillips were solid in midfield.
Goalkeepers Korinne Korman and Victoria Burkhead earned the shutout with
support from defenders Jennifer Zimmerman, Elizabeth Barzgar and Zoya
Mohan.
* Patriots 3, Green Geckos 2 - Isa Taskinen (two goals) and Bryn
Hastings (one goal) helped the Patriots improve to 7-1. Sarah Craig had a
key assist while Anna Venturini was strong on defense.
* Laker Girls 4, Blue Bullets 0 - Kathryn Conner and Amanda Johnson
scored goals for the Laker Girls. Layne Kelly, Adina Zepfel and Yasmine
Izadi also played well for the Laker Girls. The Blue Bullets were led by
goalkeepers Jocelyn Neff and Taryn Greenberg. Fullbacks Katie Gronendyke,
Mackensie Constantinou and Laura Martinez also contributed to the Blue
Bullets’ effort.
In boys under-8 action:
* The Blue Rapids took on the Lizards and received two goals from team
captain Hutton McKenna. Jack Gorab and Nick Molinaro also scored while
Daniel Hohl, Matt Larson and Gianni Multari provided defensive
support.Josh Giger and Zach Murtaugh played well in midfield and had
multiple assists.
* The Yellow Lightning collided with the Galaxy. Cole Kirby, Jedd
Thayer, Hunter Molnar and Michael Bui scored goals. Grant Hodgkins played
well in midfield. Solid defense was provided by Demitrios Ingram, Brooks
Westervelt and goalkeepers Connor Lazar and Michael Doering.
* The Green Machine faced the Purple Lightning Bolts. Brent Lawson and
C.J. Nugent each scored two goals. Cort Hastings and Brian Mull also had
goals. Blake Grable had two assists and Davis Case played a good
all-around game. Pete Rigas and Garrett Brewer also contributed to the
Green Machine’s effort.
In boys under-7 action:
* The Blue Gators had their best performance of the season against the
Crystal Dragons. Matthew Sherburne and Tomo Andry scored two goals
apiece. Will Fortier came up with a big assist. Carl Johansson, Paul
MacCabe and Bryce Johansson were all strong in the goal and Jonathan
Harzan and Alex Jenkins provided strong defense.
The Crystal Dragons were led by Jack Gail, Spencer Trauthen, Kevin
Kashanshi and Andy Kamegawa. Key defensive plays were made by Eric Tolfa,
Jonah Husted, Armen Mavusi, Grant Wysopal and Baron Yahn.
In boys under-6 action:
* The Shockers took on the Silver Rockets and were led by Jake
Hastings (four goals) and Matthew Riese (one goal). Jared Dror and Monte
Lainfiesta had assists. Jared Daniels, Nolan McCarthy and Tanner Milazzo
contributed on defense.
