College women’s soccer: UCI shut out, 2-0

NORTHRIDGE - The UC Irvine women’s soccer team outshot host Cal
State Northridge, but allowed two second-half goals and lost, 2-0, in Big
West Conference action Friday.
The Anteaters (6-8-1, 3-4-1 in conference) outshot CS Northridge,
16-13. UCI goalie Sarah Swancutt recorded two saves. Northridge improved
to 11-3-2, 4-7-4, and received goals from Brenda Escobar, off an assist
from Cindy Mallett, in the 48th minute and another goal from Erin
Broadwell in the 87th minute.
UCI also earned more corner kicks, 6-4, but could not connect. UCI’s
Hayley McNallan had two shots on goal, while Northridge goalie Jenny
Willemse stopped seven shots.
