John Wayne Airport managers met with Orange County Sheriff’s
Department officials on Thursday to finalize the cost of increased
security.
Airport Director Alan Murphy, Sheriff Michael Carona and others
hammered out costs resulting from tighter security after the Sept. 11
terrorist attacks, airport spokeswoman Ann McCarley said.
Once the final budget is worked out, it will be brought to the Orange
County Board of Supervisors for approval. Murphy has indicated that
security costs are expected to rise $9 million over the next year to $12
million.
Airport Operations Manager Mike Hart and Airport Police Services Chief
Lt. Patrick Lee were also at the meeting.
No details of the meeting were available at press time.
