Young Seconds famous ski room has opened for the winter season. “This
year we are featuring some of the best ski and snowboard apparel for
children through adults sizes,” says owner Kathy Bell. “We have
everything from boots and gloves to full designer ski outfits.” At Young
Seconds, all of the clothing is hand-selected so that customers get the
best and latest styles in children’s casual to formal clothing. Sizes
range from infant through teen, including a large selection of popular

A pre-holiday sale is going on through Nov. 18 at Von Hemert Interiors
in Costa Mesa. On sale are popular furniture manufacturers such as

reduced from 20% to 40%. Other items on sale are European imports, home
furnishings and art. There’s also a big $8-million inventory on handmade

Whole Foods Market in Costa Mesa, the Chalone Wine Foundation and the
Orange Coast College Culinary Arts Department are hosting a fund-raising
dinner for the Orange Coast College Culinary Arts Department from 6 to 9
p.m. Thursday. All proceeds from the dinner will go toward culinary
school scholarships. The five-course-tasting menu will feature seafood,
New Zealand beef and lamb, and will include wines. A dessert made with
Valrhona chocolate will conclude the dinner. Seating is limited, and
reservations are required. The cost for the wine dinner is $75. The
dinner will be at the Captain’s Table at Orange Coast College. For
