AYSO Region 120: Cozza scores two goals for Thunderhawks

The Thunderhawks, Costa Mesa’s boys under-13 APP soccer team, faced
the South Irvine team in AYSO Region 120 action .
The opening goal was scored by South Irvine, but the Thunderhawks
answered with a goal by Austin Evett.
Luis Cozza added two goals with midfield support from Benny Edles,
Starnes Arnold, Matt Grella, Adam Seagondollar, Rigo Miranda and Hayden
Hiatt.
The defense was led by goalkeeper Thomas Kosnosky. Also contributing
on defense were Ben Abbott, Alberto Nava, Caleb Burgess, William Briseno
and Kenneth Zich limited South Irvine’s offense.
In boys under-10 action:
* Team Quicksilver defeated Team Wasps Saturday. Kohl Jones, Rigoberto
Perez, Andrew Roth and Devin Guthrie scored goals. Tyler Schiltz and
Robert Blackwell provided defensive support. Scott Wagner and Jose
Hidalgo also contributed to the team’s effort.
* Patriots 3, Wolverines 1 - The Wolverines came close to scoring in
the first half with solid play from Marc Jones, Kevin Kiser, Marc
DeFrenza, Taylor Sutton, David Nava and Robert Ruttan. The Patriots’
Mitchel Phaust scored on a breakaway to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead in
the second half. The Wolverines answered with a solid drive through the
center of the field by Jose Espinoza, Ryan Barnett and Eduardo Espinoza
that led to a goal by Evan Edison. The Patriots scored two breakaway
goals to seal the victory.
