WHAT HAPPENED:
The Planning Commission approved a request by the Psychic Boutique to
establish fortune telling as a permitted use of a business Downtown. The
application to establish a fortune telling business within an existing
retail store and a create a portable cart for the Psychic Boutique on
private property was also approved Tuesday night. The commission denied
the Psychic Boutique’s request to conduct psychic readings at the
portable cart.
WHAT IT MEANS:
Following a mandatory 10-day appeals period, Psychic Boutique has to
apply for a fortune telling permit before it can begin dispensing the
future.
Vote: 4 / 1 with one abstain
IN FAVOR / AGAINST
WHAT HAPPENED:
The commission approved a request by the Evangelical Free Church to
expand the church and school facility by adding a 200-seat chapel with
classrooms in the basement of an existing office building and a 150-seat
chapel with classrooms on the second floor.
WHAT IT MEANS:
After a 10-day appeals period the church must acquirea certification
of occupancy from the city that verifies that the building is safe to
occupy.
