Women’s soccer: Lions drop opener to CSUDH

CARSON - The Vanguard University women’s soccer team dropped its
season opener Monday to host Cal State Dominguez Hills, 2-0, in
nonconference action.
The Toros (2-0) were led by goals from Yvette Gonzales and Jill Toda.
Lions’ goalkeeper Jordan Fredriksen had three saves in the first half,
while Kim Becher had three saves in the second half.
The Lions, outshot, 13-9, are anxiously awaiting the return of
offensive standout Betsy Nienhuis, who did not play due to a broken arm.
Vanguard will kick off its home schedule tonight at 7 against Seattle
Pacific University in a nonconference tilt.
