WEATHER FORECAST
It’s warming up just a tad, as Costa Mesa will see readings of about
79 degrees. Newport Beach, meanwhile, should expect slightly cooler
temperatures. Overnight, it shouldn’t get any colder than about 64
degrees.
The weekend looks to be a bit warmer with the mercury rising to the
80-degree mark. So hit the ocean, despite the small surf.

BOATING FORECAST
Patchy fog will dot the harbor while a light wind blows this morning.
The southwest wind will become westerly into the afternoon and will blow
10 to 15 knots, generating 2-foot waves and a southwest swell of 4 feet.
Not much will change into the night, though the fog will return.
The northwest winds will pick up at night and blow 15 to 25 knots,
creating waves of 2 to 4 feet and a northwest swell of 8 feet. Come
nightfall, the winds will increase to 20 to 30 knots and the waves will
rise to the 3- to 5-foot range. Areas of fog will return late.
SURF
It gets kind of old after a while, but Mother Nature doesn’t seem to
care too much. So, expect more knee- to waist-high waves to roll into the
local beaches. The occasional 4-footer will make it a bit more fun, but
sizable waves, including 5-footers, won’t pop in until Sunday and will
get even better come Monday. Surf’s almost on.
