WEATHER FORECAST
Who needs cloudy skies? Not today, as most of the day will be as sunny
as can be, allowing the high to creep into the mid-80s in Costa Mesa and
high 70s in Newport Beach. It should feel a bit warmer today, however,
and the UV index will reach about 9 from noon to 3 p.m.
Overnight, expect the thermometer to drop about 20 degrees to a
still-warm 65. It will be a cloudless night, so enjoy the stars and
expect similar conditions on Tuesday.
BOATING FORECAST
Patchy morning fog will dot the harbor early, but will dissipate with
western winds of 10 to 15 knots and warm weather. That wind will also
bring about 2-foot waves and a mixed west and southwest swell of 4 feet.
Not much will change at night, so expect the same, though areas of fog
will return.
Farther out, the northwestern winds will blow a bit more at 10 TO 20
knots, which will result in waves in excess of 2 feet and mixed northwest
and southwest swell of 6 feet. Again, expect areas of morning fog both
day and night.
SURF
The waves are practically nothing compared with last week’s southwest
swell, but should reach the waist-high level nonetheless. Expect most
waves to drop off between 2 to 3 feet with the occasional 4-footer.
Conditions should pick up a bit on Tuesday with waist- to
shoulder-high surf and fair conditions.
