Tom Johnson, Daily Pilot publisher and general manager of Times

Community News, has taken over the leadership of the Inland Valley Times,

published by the Los Angeles Times.

The Inland Valley paper, which publishes Monday through Saturday and

was launched in 1999, covers an area from Diamond Bar to Fontana. The

paper had been managed by the Times editorial staff.

By becoming part of Times Community News, the Inland Valley paper

joins the Daily Pilot, Huntington Beach Independent, Glendale News-Press,

Burbank Leader and Foothill Leader as part of the community newspaper

chain published by the community division of the Los Angeles Times.

Johnson will oversee editorial, advertising and other business

operations.

Johnson, 48, joined the Pilot in 1991 as associate publisher. He

became publisher in 1993 and was named to the general manager position of

Times Community News last year.

His community involvement in Newport-Mesa includes the Hoag Hospital

552 Club, for which he is president-elect; the Costa Mesa Chamber of

Commerce; Latino Business Council; the Orange Coast College Foundation;

and the Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce.
