Dance center opening in Newport Beach

The Classical Dance Center of Tustin will open a Newport Beach

location Sept. 4, with artistic director Elizabeth Huebner offering

classes such as ballet, tap, funk jazz and hip-hop for different age

levels.

Huebner attended the San Francisco Ballet School and the Joffrey

Ballet School in New York. She has toured internationally with the

Joffrey Ballet and has taught at the Oregon Ballet Theatre and UC Irvine.

The center’s faculty also includes Delanzer Huggy Ford, who offers his

own version of “Street Jazz.”

A grand opening for the Newport Beach center, at 2026 Quail St., will

be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 25 with free classes offered.

Back Bay Cafe hosting concert series

The Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort will hold a summer concert series

at the Back Bay Cafe throughout August. Featured artists include folk/pop

musician Tim Moyer.

The concerts will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. every Sunday at 1131 Back

Bay Drive, Newport Beach.

Museum welcomes new works of art

Ten new works have joined the Orange County Museum of Art’s permanent

collection after a recent Board of Directors meeting.

The additions include a mixed-media piece on velvet by Peter

Alexander, a collaboration by Nam June Paik and Joseph Beuys, a Lorna

Simpson installation piece from 1990, paintings by Glenn Ligon and David

Reed and a new sculpture by Lee Bul, made last year.Information: (949)
