Soccer: Ultimate Soccer League ends with title game bash

COSTA MESA - The Ultimate Soccer League, the high-scoring
alternative to the traditional game, will end its season with the
Ultimate Cup, the championship game, at Orange Coast College as a day of
soccer festivities begin today at 3:30 p.m.
The Ultimate Cup, will feature the Pasadena Star Gazers taking on the
Moorpark Moon Stones at 7:30 p.m.
Both teams ended the regular season with 5-1 records. The Star Gazers,
coached by Terri Collins and Paul Kaminski, will be seeking revenge as
Moorpark defeated Pasadena, 74-67, on July 7 at Saddleback College.
The Moon Stones, coached by Mike Evans, suffered their only loss to
Huntington Beach, 61-37, June 30 at El Camino College.
A local radio station plus games and festivities geared toward the
youth will be on hand during the consolation games.
At 3:30 p.m., the Malibu and Santa Monica teams will combine their
players to play against the unified squad of Manhattan Beach and
Huntington Beach players.
The Mission Viejo Raspberry Roxies will face the Pomona Sand Storm in
the battle for third place at 5 p.m. Pomona’s Kasey Turman, a standout
from Duke University, leads the league with 17 goals.
The Ultimate Soccer League will return next summer.
